Let me just say that the Underworld series is revolutionary to begin with, this vampire universe the most unique I’ve ever seen and believe will remain to be the most unique for a very long time if not forever in the history of cinematic genius.

The first five minutes of the film got my heart racing, and not just because of the devastating separation forced upon Selene and Michael. Watching this dark and secret world of vampires and lycans being ripped apart as “humans” try to purge and cleanse it is very surreal. The atmosphere throughout the movie was morphed from the consistency of the first three. Although this could have something to do with the new directors, it mostly results from the reformation of the world, humans having taken over. I felt I was with Selene, learning as she did about the world she, as well as the audience, no longer recognized.

I won’t name them, but the unthinkable twists and turns made this film. Len Wiseman’s imagination has yet again captured his audience in an entirely new dimension of brilliance. In this one movie, he’s managed to destroy his world, along with most of the vampires in it, and has alluded to the building up of it. What I’ve learned throughout watching these movies is to expect the unexpected, Wisemen a writer who goes all out.

As a side note, I enjoyed the “summary” at the beginning. It made it easy for people who either hadn’t seen the first three movies in a long time or simply had never seen them. Personally, I watched all three in a row before the movie’s release out of sheer excitement, as I’m sure other fans did.

Everything about this movie blew me away, I was out of my seat a few times. The action is amazing and lives up if not exceeds the first three films–though distracting for a few fans because of the advanced use of computers instead of old fashioned wires. The story is addicting and extremely suspenseful, way more than I’d ever expected. The direction was just right, and I’m glad. To be honest, I was a little nervous when I heard Wisemen wasn’t directing, but now, I’m very appreciative of the two new directors.

I can’t imagine any Underworld fan not liking this. I advise that if you haven’t seen the first three films, you don’t have to wait, but you won’t get the same reaction as anyone else who has. So, enjoy the show you vampires and lycans. Yeah, you too humans.
